A day trip on Hokuriku Shinkansen to the hot spring town in the mountains
Yamanaka Onsen is one of the three hot spring towns in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Hidden in the mountains along the Daishoji River, the town with the history of 1300 years not only offers the stunning scenery, considered some of the most spectacular in the region, but also rich culture and crafts, including Yamanaka lacquerware and Geisha (knowns as Geigi). Hop on Hokuriku Shinkansen for an 18-minute journey from Kanazawa Station to Kagaonsen Station, and discover the charm of the serene hot spring town.

This is "a free trial tour" and the walking tour will be officially launched in Autumn 2025. The tour includes public transportation fares (Shinkansen and bus) between Kanazawa Station to Yamanaka Onsen.

Shinkansen arrives at Kagaonsen Station at 11:23.
Get on a bus at Kagaonsen Station at 11:35.
Arrives in Yamanaka Onsen at 12:09.
The tour starts at 12:30.
Walking Tour in Yamanaka Onsen until 15:15.
Taste 2 types of local sake at a long-established sake brewery/shop. Non-alcoholic sake lees ice cream is available for those who can't take alcohol.
Yamanaka Geisha (Geigi) performances at Yamanaka-za theatre from15:30 to 16:10.
Admission to Kiku-no-yu public hot spring is included in the tour. Let's relax in an onsen just like a local after the tour!
The earliest bus back to Kagaonsen Station departs at 17:03.
